The story
I'm Jack Devonshire, a developer based in the UK. Over the years I've built a long list of projects — you can see plenty of them on my personal portfolio at jackdevonshire.co.uk. Friends, family and local businesses kept asking me to build sites for them, and webstart.uk is how I'm now doing that properly.
The idea is simple: small businesses deserve a website that looks genuinely professional, without the eye-watering quotes agencies tend to charge. I keep things lean and personal, so I can offer fully custom sites at a fraction of the usual price.
How I work
I think the way most web design is sold is backwards — you're asked to pay a big deposit before you've seen anything. I do it the other way around. We have a chat, I build you a real prototype, and you only pay once you're happy with it. If it's not right for you, you've lost nothing.
