Terms & Conditions

These terms cover the website design, build, hosting and support services provided by webstart.uk ("I", "me", "my") to you, the client. By asking me to build or host a website for you, you agree to these terms.

1. Quotes and prototypes

The discovery call, written quote and an initial working prototype of your website are provided free of charge and with no obligation. A quote is valid for 30 days and sets out the agreed one-off and any monthly costs. Prototypes remain my property until the build fee is paid.

2. Payment

  • The one-off build fee is payable once you have reviewed your finished site and approved it for launch. The site goes live after payment.
  • Monthly services (such as managed hosting and email) are billed monthly in advance and continue until cancelled.
  • Additional work — extra pages, design changes and content changes beyond any free allowance — is charged at the rates published on the pricing page at the time the work is agreed.

3. Ownership of your website

Once the build fee is paid, the website I create for you is yours. You may request a full download of your site's source code at any time, free of charge. Third-party components, fonts, stock media and software libraries remain subject to their own licences.

4. Hosting and support

Managed hosting includes secure hosting, an SSL certificate, regular backups and uptime monitoring, plus your first 5 content changes each calendar month. Unused free changes do not roll over. I aim for high availability but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service, and I am not liable for downtime caused by third-party providers or events outside my control.

5. Your responsibilities

  • You confirm that any text, images or other materials you provide are accurate and that you have the right to use them.
  • You are responsible for the lawful use of your website and its content.
  • Where I register or renew a domain on your behalf, the domain registration is provided at cost and subject to the registrar's terms.

6. Cancellation

You may cancel monthly services at any time; they will end at the close of your current billing period and are non-refundable for that period. If you cancel hosting, I will provide a download of your source code so you can move your site elsewhere. Subdomains hosted on webstart.uk are provided as a courtesy and may be withdrawn if a hosting plan is cancelled.

7. Liability

I provide my services with reasonable care and skill. To the extent permitted by law, my total liability for any claim arising from the services is limited to the fees you have paid me in the previous 12 months. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

8. Changes to these terms

I may update these terms from time to time. The version published on this page is the one that applies. For existing projects, material changes will be brought to your attention.
